Hackers Demand Dismissal of Two Interim Government Advisors
Hackers infiltrated the official website of Chakmirpur Union Parishad in Daulatpur, Manikganj, to demand the removal of Sheikh Bashir Uddin, the interim government's commerce advisor, and Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, the culture advisor. The website was hacked on Tuesday, December 3, and the breach was discovered by noon. However, the site was restored within a few hours.
On the hacked website's notice board, the attackers issued a stern warning to the government, stating: "This is a strict warning to the government: Remove Farooki and Bashir immediately, or the cyber attacks will continue! S14M_69 | Sylhet Geng-SG | Cyber Community | Nury Alam Nahid."
The National Security Intelligence (NSI) first detected the breach when one of its officials noticed the unauthorized activity. The matter was promptly reported to the Deputy Commissioner of Manikganj and the local NSI joint director. Efforts led by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Md. Manowar Hossain Molla and NSI officials ensured that the website was restored by 3:30 p.m.
Commenting on the incident, Dr. Manowar Hossain Molla stated to the media, "Upon learning about the hacking incident, we consulted the ICT Ministry for a quick resolution. Simultaneously, I have directed the strengthening of security measures for all government websites in the district."
